Where
does the name ninety nine (an ice cream cone with a chocolate flake stuck
in it ) come from? |
| I
have been told a 99 is so named as it is 1mm short of 100mm which
is the internal side of the packing box, so allowing easier packing.
This seems logical but is it true???TD Southampton |
| The
name 99 for the short Flake dates back to its launch in 1930 when
the UK ice-cream industry was dominated by Italians. Legend had it
that a King of Italy surrounded himself with an elite bodyguard of
99 soldiers. Therefore, to Italians, the number 99 signified the very
finest quality. KA New Zealand |

reply to the question about Tonibell franchises: Tonibell Southern Counties
at Codicote, Herts, still run a fleet of Tonibell vans. (10 in total)Although
it is possible to buy one of these vans and operate from the depot, unfortunately
franchises are a thing of the past. b_Emailaddress: catherine.hibbert3@ntlworld.com

We
wish to ask what could be wrong with the
(ice cream) machine we currently have; the overrun is in the negative. We
get less ice cream than the mixture we put in. We appreciate your assistance.

I
am thinking of buying an ice cream van and working abroad in the Canary
Islands with it. Does anyone know any laws against this and what I would
need to do? Thank You |

reply to question 20. Several years ago, a friend of mine had the same idea.
When she checked with the embassy, she found that the health regulations
were very strict, to the point of making the venture financially unviable.
Things may have changed by now as this was a few years ago. Suggest contacting
